ABOUT US

Inspired by the principles and philosophy of life, work and social service propagated by the late Gurusaday Dutt, an ICS officer during the British Raj who was also the founder of the “Bratachari Movement”, a social movement which had once motivated the rural and urban youth of Bengal to indulge themselves in raising self-esteem and national awareness in the first of the 20th century, College Street Project Sixteen also strives to serve our society better through its numerous projects.

College Street Project Sixteen (CSPS), therefore, focuses on various activities which are manifold: emphasizing on cultural awareness among youth, developing child health and psychology, securing education for under privileged children and undertaking different measures for sustainable adolescent health, development and women empowerment.

Apart from these measures, CSPS also takes initiatives to help street children, handicapped children and elderly persons those who live in deplorable conditions and most of the time are left unattended. CSPS tries to create an emotional bond with them through music, education and togetherness. We have been partly successful in achieving our goals in West Bengal and we are determine to achieve our goal.

Activities like working with tribal villagers in the district of Purulia in West Bengal, giving them lessons in how to create kitchen garden and telling them about the importance of methodic cultivation in order to increase production, have been a huge success and we are proud to be able to make them realize the need. Through these activities we discovered their thirst for knowledge and their eagerness to prove themselves. They are ambitious and are extremely hardworking.
